Four Million Cigarettes Destroyed in Estonia

It is the second largest consignment in the history of the country

About 1 million cigarettes are seized every month, according to Urmas Koidu, head of the customs section of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. The cigarette consignment arrived in Tallinn from Ukraine and was in transit through Estonia to other European countries. The Tax and Customs Board estimated the damage contraband cigarettes had caused to the state in 2012 at €40 million.
