Trouble in Tobacco Farming

Thirty per cent less tobacco was harvested in Kyrgyzstan last year

The tobacco crop (Dubek-4407 variety) was 4,400 tonnes in Kyrgyzstan in 2014 (6,500 tonnes in 2013), according to the media office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management. Over 5,500 tonnes of tobacco was fermented and 5,700 tonnes exported, including: 4,500 tonnes of unpurified tobacco, 700 tonnes of purified tobacco, 200 tonnes of ready tobacco, and 644.6 million cigarettes.
