Tanzania - shisha banned to protect youth

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa issued a directive banning shisha with immediate effect to counter the growing popularity of hookah tobacco smoking among youth, the Tanzania Daily News said.

Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda said shisha sales in the capital city must cease by mid-July, the newspaper said. Many youth wrongly believe shisha use is less harmful than cigarettes, the Daily News said
