Philip Morris Demands Banning Ararat in Russia

The owner of the Ararat trademark thinks its sign is not like Marlboro

Philip Morris Brands S.a.r.l. filed a lawsuit with the Moscow Court of Arbitration in March demanding that sales of Ararat cigarettes should be prohibited in Russia. The claimant maintains that the trademark of Ararat cigarettes misleads consumers because it is confusingly similar to the Marlboro trademark. The Ararat trademark is registered in Armenia.
