Fines for Smoking To Be 100 Times Higher

Restaurants often ignore tobacco restrictions

The Kyiv legislature approved an application to the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) and Cabinet on heavier punishment for smoking in places where it is prohibited. In particular, they suggest making fines 100 times higher. Fines for smoking in public places are 3 to 10 minimum untaxed personal incomes in Ukraine today (one minimum untaxed income is 17 hryvnias). If this violation is repeated within a year, the fine is 10 to 20 such minimum incomes....
